A project’s process should be a perfectly planned-out road

We can only achieve this in the quality we strive for if the standards are clearly defined! That is why we have defined the process for every restoration! This restoration process always forms the minimum standard – and is, of course, expanded or adapted according to your customisation requests.
A racing car needs a modified body, a special engine and a racing suspension, but not a leather interior – our process has to take this into account.

We start out with a check up on the vehicle’s applicability.

The check up includes the following steps:

  1. Thorough cleaning of the exterior and interior
  2. Visual examination of the paint
  3. Visual examination of the shell
  4. Visual examination of the interior
  5. Functional check of all components e.g. air conditioning/heating, lighting, control devices, etc.
  6. Test drive
  7. Visual examination of the chassis / brakes / motor

The second step is dry-ice-blasting.

It includes:

  1. Disassembly of all underbody panelling
  2. Disassembly of front mask, rear panels, and rocker panels
  3. Disassembly of all lighting parts
  4. Cleaning and storage of all disassembled panels
  5. Draining motor oil, gearbox oil, washing water and brake fluid
  6. Removal of the motor and gearbox
  7. Transfer for blasting
  8. Dry-ice-blasting of the underbody, front, rear, and motor compartment

After dry-ice-blasting is completed, we determine the restoration’s extent:

  1. Additional visual examination of the underbody in search for corrosion and damage
  2. Determining the extent of shell restoration
  3. Checking the chassis components
  4. Checking all wires and lines (brakes, fuel, oil, etc.)
  5. Removal of the oil tank, oil cooler. and all oil lines (lines will always be renewed)
  6. Overhaul or renewal Chassis and brake parts

Next up is the preparation for painting:

  1. Disassembly of the interior
  2. Disassembly of all panes
  3. Dismount and disassembly of all shell parts like doors, hood, sunroof, etc.

Now, we’re bringing each assembly group to their respective work plants:

  1. Shell to body construction/painter
  2. Interior to saddlery (new cushions and leather covers for seats and fairings)
  3. Overhaul of the fittings
  4. In case of defects, overhaul of electronical parts
  5. Motor and gearbox to Plant 1

While shell and interior are being processed, we revise the motor and gearbox.

We take a closer look at motor and gearbox. Every detail will be thoroughly inspected.

Motor:

  • Complete motor disassembly and cleaning all parts
  • Crank case check-up, measuring and treatment if necessary, renewal of cylinder stud if necessary
  • Crankshaft check-up, measuring, painting and renewal if necessary
  • Connecting rod check-up, measuring, angling, renewal of bearings
  • Valve drive, intermediate shaft, control chains, etc. check-up, measuring and renewal of worn-out parts
  • Camshaft, rocker arm, rocker shafts, etc. check-up, measuring and renewal if necessary
  • General overhaul of cylinder studs
  • Piston and cylinder check-up, measuring and in most cases renewal
  • Cam chest, chain case, etc. check-up, measuring and treatment/renewal if necessary
  • Dismounting crank case (all bearings, seals, etc. are being renewed)
  • Wearing parts like clutch will be renewed
  • Renewal of Ancillary units like starter, generator, overhaul of ignition distributor (renewal if necessary)
  • Functionality check-up of mounting parts, renewal if necessary
  • Removal of engine tin, blasting and powder coating (damaged parts will be replaced and treated in the same way)
  • Fresh zinc coating for all zinced parts (like the original)
  • Exhaust system check-up, blasting and renewal if necessary
  • Motor reassembly and final additions for mounting.

Gearbox:

  • After visual examination for tightness: disassembling, checking wearing parts (renewal if necessary)
  • For all-wheel-drive-vehicles: check front differential’s and drivetrain’s tightness and functionality, overhaul, or renewal of worn-out parts if necessary

After the work at each plant is completed, the reassembly will be executed at Plant 1 or Plant 2, depending on the extent of the following work steps:

  1. Mounting chassis and brakes (either overhauled or new parts)
  2. Mounting oil cooler systems (all wires/lines are new)
  3. Completing the shell with seals and piping (doors, hoods, trims, etc.)
  4. Mounting lighting systems, functionality check and insert panes
  5. Applying new floor mats and new roof linings if necessary, re-applying all interior
  6. Mounting motor and gearbox, test run
  7. Mounting the wheels (paint removed, powder coated, new tires)
  8. Measuring the vehicle (height, wheel load, fine-tuning toe and camber)
  9. Test drive / check-up of all functions / quality check
  10. Presentation for approval of general inspection, adding individualisation if necessary
  11. Handover inspection and eventual handover
