Restoration, reconstruction, perfection...

We can only achieve our quality goals if we have clearly defined standards! That's why we have defined the process for every restoration! This restoration process always forms the minimum standard – and is, of course, expanded or adapted according to your customisation requests.
A racing car needs a modified body, a special engine, a racing suspension, but no leather interior – our process must, of course, take this into account.
The process is always the same:

It begins with an inspection of the condition of each vehicle upon receipt. This inspection includes the following steps:

  • Thorough cleaning of the exterior and interior
  • Visual inspection of the paintwork
  • Visual inspection of the body
  • Visual inspection of the interior
  • Functional test of all components such as air conditioning/heating, lighting, control units, etc.
  • Test drive
  • Visual inspection of the chassis/brakes/engine

The second step is dry ice blasting. This includes:

  • Dismantling of all underbody panels
  • Dismantling of the front mask, rear panel and sill panels Dismantling of all lighting elements
  • Disassembling, cleaning and storing of all dismantled panels
  • Draining of engine and transmission oil, washer water and brake fluid
  • Removal of engine and transmission
  • Transfer to blasting area
  • underfloor, front, rear and engine compartment dry ice blasting

After dry ice blasting, the scope of the restoration is determined:

  • Another visual inspection of the underbody for corrosion and damage
  • Determining the scope of the body work
  • Checking the chassis components
  • Checking all lines (brake, fuel, oil, etc.)
  • Removal of the oil tank, the oil cooler and all oil lines (lines are generally replaced)
  • Chassis and brake components are generally overhauled or replaced.

Now the preparation for painting begins:

  • Dismantling of the interior
  • Dismantling of all windows
  • Dismantling and disassembly of all body parts such as doors, bonnets, sunroof, etc.

Now the individual assemblies are taken to the respective workshops:

  • bodywork to the body shop / painter
  • interior to the upholstery shop (reupholstering seats and panels and covering with leather)
  • instruments to the overhaul shop
  • Depending on the defect, electronic components are overhauled
  • Engine and transmission completely overhauled in Plant 1

While the body and interior are being worked on, the engine and transmission are being overhauled.

The overhaul generally includes:

Engine:

  • completely disassemble the engine clean all parts
  • check, measure and, if necessary, machine the crankcase; replace cylinder studs if necessary check, measure, polish and, if necessary, replace the crankshaft
  • check, measure and angle the connecting rods; replace the bearings
  • Check and measure valve train, intermediate shaft, timing chains, etc.; replace worn parts
  • Check and measure camshafts; rocker arms, rocker arm axes, etc.; replace if necessary Completely overhaul cylinder heads
  • Check and measure pistons and cylinders; replace in most cases
  • Check and measure camshaft housings, chain housings, etc.; machine/replace if necessary
  • Install crankcase (generally, all bearings, seals, etc. are replaced) Replace wearing parts such as clutch, etc.
  • Replace ancillary components such as starter motor and alternator Recondition ignition distributor Replace distributor if necessary
  • Check the function of add-on parts and replace if necessary
  • Strip the engine paneling, sandblast and powder coat (replacing and processing damaged parts as well)
  • Re-galvanise all galvanised parts (as original)
  • Sandblast exhaust system, replace if necessary
  • Assemble engine, complete for installation

Gearbox:

  • After a visual inspection for leaks, sandblast, disassemble, check wear parts, replace if necessary
  • For all-wheel drive vehicles, check the front differential and drive train for leaks and function, replace worn parts if necessary or overhaul components

After completion of the individual tasks, assembly in plant 1 or plant 2 follows, depending on capacity, in the following steps:

  • Assemble chassis / brake (either overhauled or new components)
  • Mount oil cooling system (all lines/hoses new)
  • Complete body with new seals and piping (doors, bonnets, trims, etc.)
  • Mount lighting, check function
  • Install new carpet set and, if necessary, new headlining
  • Insert windows
  • Install interior
  • Install engine and transmission, test run
  • Mount wheels (remove paint from rims, powder coat, new tyres)
  • Measure vehicle (adjust height, wheel load, track, camber, etc.)
  • Test drive / Check all functions / Quality check
  • Presentation for acceptance of the main inspection, if necessary, registration of customisations
  • Handover inspection
  • Delivery
